Supporting Your New Family

Supporting Infant Feeding

Similar to the European approach to infant sustenance, I like to focus on infant feeding. I am a certified lactation counselor and can offer guidance and support for breastfeeding/ chest-feeding parents. I will also offer guidance and support for bottle feeding, formula feeding or a combination of both.  The way that works for you and your family is the right way. I will provide you with evidence based information and support you in a non-judgemental manner.

Providing Family Respite

The first 12 weeks of infant growth can be exhausting for a new family. I am there to make sure that you rest and remove some of the stress that naturally comes with having a newborn. Part of supporting the growth of your new family is to come up with processes that will reduce stress and improve relaxation so you have time to adjust to your new roles, and the birthing parent has time to heal. Something as simple as setting up a bottle washing/ pump parts process, organizing or setting up your diaper changing stations, doing a load of laundry, running the dishwasher, straightening up a bit, preparing a healthy meal and snacks can alleviate some of the stressors. Sibling adjustment is one of my specialties from my years as an early childhood educator- I can get creative.

Supporting Best Care Infant Practices

I only support families with evidence based practices. This means information that is evidence supported- rather than my opinion, you get the facts. I will offer trusted vetted resources and local referrals if necessary.
